Hitler’s Losing Gym Memberships to Crossfit

Laughed my ass off.

If you’re in Chicago, interested in all of the benefits of Crossfit-style training but also interested in doing it more safely, drop me a line. It’s what I do.

Quote of the Day

I say, if your knees aren’t green by the end of the day, you ought to seriously re-examine your life.

~Bill Watterson, Calvin & Hobbes

It’s a gray, cold, wet, and foggy day out in Chicago, but don’t let that stop you from getting out there for a run, for bootcamp, for a bike ride. (Edit: It’s really started to rain, so skip the bike ride and the boot camp. But get into the gym. Deep squats are the cure for a day like today.) It’s getting your exercise in on days like today – where you’re dirty and uncomfortable – that end up making the most difference.

Especially in this city, where the crap days far outweigh the beautiful. At the end of the year, if you’ve met your goals, you’ll know it’s because you got dirty.

Real Naked Food in Chicago

A new grocery store has landed in Chicago’s Wicker Park promising “Unpackaged, Unprocessed, and Unmodified” foods.

They’re Real Naked Food located at 1909 W. Division and, yes, this is a shameless plug for a place I’ve never even been. With any luck, Liz and I will get over there to check it out sometime this week… This weekend at the very latest. I’ll have more on Real Naked Food then, but it’s hard not to get behind any place with this as their mission:

The mission of Real Naked Food is to offer quality local, organic, and natural food alternatives to the unhealthy foods offered in conventional “big box” grocery stores, at competitive price points, as well as decrease the detrimental environmental effects caused by unnecessary food packaging.

Head over to their site and/or check out and “Like” their Facebook page.

Very cool.

(In all fairness, I have to also plug Green Grocer Chicago… Although they carry plenty of processed foods, their focus on “Local, Organic, and Delicious” similarly meets my requirements for a plug. Check out their Facebook page while you’re at it.)
